Thooyamalli Kanji
The purest white heritage rice kanji — clean, cooling, gentle on the digestive system. Thooyamalli means pure white, and this porridge lives up to its name.
Ingredients
| Sree Kumaran Thooyamalli Rice Flakes | 1 cup |
| Water | 3 cups |
| Salt (savoury) or jaggery + coconut milk (sweet) | to taste |
Method
- Bring water to boil. Add flakes, stir for 10 minutes until creamy white and thick. Season as preferred. Serve with buttermilk, pickle or coconut milk.
Thooyamalli is the rice traditionally eaten in Tamil Nadu after illness and during religious fasting. Its low fibre and gentle starch make it the easiest rice to digest. The name itself means pure white — it produces the most beautiful, snow-white kanji of any variety.
