Godhumai Upma
Savory wheat flake upma, ready in 15 minutes — nutty, filling, and flavoured with South Indian tempering. A wholesome weekday breakfast with real grain goodness.
Ingredients
| Sree Kumaran Roasted Wheat Flakes | 1 cup |
| Oil or ghee | 2 tbsp |
| Mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves | 1 tsp each |
| Onion, chopped; green chillies | 1 each |
| Hot water | 1½ cups |
| Salt, lemon juice | to taste |
Method
- Heat oil. Temper mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves until golden. Add onion and green chilli, cook until soft.
- Add wheat flakes and stir for 2 minutes to coat in the tempering.
- Pour hot water and salt. Stir well, cover and cook on low for 5 minutes until water is absorbed.
- Finish with lemon juice. Serve hot with coconut chutney or pickle.
Because the wheat flakes are pre-roasted, this upma cooks in minutes and has a deeper, nuttier flavour than regular rava upma. Add mixed vegetables for a more complete meal.
